Quantum Mechanix Artisan Replicas move beyond what’s possible with manufactured replicas to create objects of unsurpassed detail and refinement for the most demanding collectors. Each piece is handmade by master craftspeople and artists, many of whom work as professional model makers in the entertainment industry. Artisan Replicas will be drawn from QMx's licensed franchises, including Battlestar Galactica, Serenity, Stargate and Classics of Sci Fi. They will typically be pieces that have never been available as collectibles before and will be made in very limited editions, generally less than 500 units per design.
With its Artisan Replicas, QMx is looking to recapture the attention to detail typically only available with handmade replicas, plus add authenticity that is only possible with access to original props, CGI files and studio reference material.
But Artisan designs will be more than the finest reproductions possible; each will be a work of art. They will bring to life items that cannot be made using mass production processes because of their detail and complexity.
“With every Artisan edition product, we look to surprise and delight collectors,” said Andy Gore, president of QMx, “with model detail, paint job, weathering, even electronics that help make these objects real in a way they we always imagined they could be.”
When an Artisan edition opens, collectors will be able to order a piece which will then be made especially for them. Because of the handcrafted nature of Artisan Replicas, each piece will be unique and will require several weeks to complete.
When the creation process is complete, the Artisan model will be shipped directly from the Artisan’s shop, limiting travel distance to help ensure it arrives in pristine condition.
