Star Trek.

In the annals of science fiction, there is perhaps no more venerated or influential franchise. Which is why we were ... well, honored doesn't even begin to cover it. Humbled. Thrilled. Thrust into complete fan euphoria – that we were asked to create the very first replica of the newly redesigned U.S.S. Enterprise, as featured in the highly anticipated J.J. Abrams movie, Star Trek.

The sleek starship model arose from a close collaboration between QMx, Paramount Pictures and Bad Robot Productions. The concept: to create a highly detailed, accurate, large-scale replica of the new Enterprise and present it as a canvas to well-known artists and filmmakers, who would then create their unique interpretations of this cultural icon. The starships are currently on a worldwide tour to celebrate the reboot of the Star Trek franchise and the premiere of Abrams' latest tour-de-force.

To help make this happen, our team of model designers worked feverishly to craft an intricate, screen-accurate 34-inch-long sculpture of the legendary Enterprise, taken directly from the Enterprise 3-D effects files created by Industrial Light & Magic for the film. The resulting models were delivered with primer coat only to over two dozen artists. Among those artists' designs is QMx's own rendition, created using the same techniques as our Artisan line of handmade film-quality replicas. The QMx version of the model is an exact replica of the Enterprise as seen in the movies, with lighting, decaling and even the Aztec paint pattern taken from orthoscopic renders of the ship and other high-resolution

reference supplied by Bad Robot.

The images on this page (and in the gallery) are of that Enterprise model.

This replica was created specifically and exclusively for Bad Robot Productions and Paramount Pictures to support the global Star Trek launch event. We currently have no announcements on availability of a retail version. However, we'd like to suggest those interested in the Enterprise project sign up for our newsletter at http://insider.qmxonline.com. When we have more to share, you'll hear about it first through the QMx Insider. You can also follow us on Twitter or on Facebook.
